Reconnecting with The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs

This week we had the opportunity to visit The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs where Alexandria Proko (Ali) is now the new venue manager.  Karen used to frequent the property years ago and she says “It was great to be back to see all the renovations!”   The Washington began it’s renovations back in May of 2012 and is perfect for a lovely indoor/outdoor, rustic chic wedding with a flare of history!  With all the new ventures happening at The Washington, we are very excited to be the newest recommended floral design company at The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs!

A little background on the space:

The entire property is bursting with history!  From 1868 to 1912, Yellow Springs was home to the Chester Springs Soldiers’ Orphan School for children of Civil War soldiers.  The table that the children used to dine at is still on the property and poses as a focal piece for any type of event at The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs.  Whether it be for placards,  a display table for photos or a food station- the possibilities are endless.

Karen and Ali met through Karen’s Temple Wedding Planning Certification class, where Ali sat on an open ended wedding planning panel for Karen’s students.  Since, the property is under new management, it was time to pay a visit and rekindle the relationship.

Meet Ali:  Recently graduated with her B.A. Anthropology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, as well as her Event Decor Certification from QC Event School (I.E.D.P.), as well as a history of independent event planning. How do you tie these interests together? Fast forward to today, where she is the Venue Manager for The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs, focusing on weddings and other special events at a historic non-profit.

Below, you will see a few of the magnificent details of The Washington’s structure!  Karen and I love the mantle- we have some amazing mercury glass bowls that we will be utilizing for the Winter Tasting! It will add a subtle, retro flare once we place an arrangement inside!

The Washington at Historic Yellow Spring is hosting its first Winter Tasting on March 1st and we are excited to be offering a floral aspect to define the space! We are thinking modern and whimsical white hydrangea with roses, touches of mercury glass and our signature crystal risers! The Washington at Historic Yellow Springs will feature their six preferred caterers which include: Serock Catering, Queen of Hearts Catering, Jimmy Duffy Catering, Feastivities Events, Robert Ryan Catering and Perfect Setting.

For more information: check out our Upcoming Events page and make your reservation! We cannot wait to see you on March 1st!

Happy Planning!
