When I first met Agnes I knew we would work well together. Her and Jim were just married this past January so she wasn’t new to the “throwing a grand party” scene. She knew that she wanted a nice party but was trying to keep it simply elegant and not too over the top. She wanted her guests to enjoy her lovely home and walk away thinking… “what a great time was had by all.” She has great personal style (as you can tell by the BCBG dress she wore so well that evening – she looked amazing!) and has done an awesome job at managing the building and decorating phases of her new home. Poolside was a perfect setting for an outdoor casual party – hence the luau theme.
Last year at an SWP meeting I met Fatima Peters of Brazil Productions. I introduced Agnes and Fatima and we stared to crystalize the entertainment. Guests would be greeted by valet from Empire Valet (www.empirevalet.com) and welcomed to the party by pretty girls in hula skirts with big smiles and a fresh orchid leis from the big Island of Hawaii. Guests would proceed to the pool area picking up a summer cocktail in a coconut cup along the way.
Guests mixed and mingled on this perfect summer eve enjoying the tunes by Jason Roy, the sounds of the blenders making fruity summer frozen drinks at the tiki bar and enjoying the fare provided by Drexelbrook. The male (and even a few females) enjoyed hand rolled cigars.
As the sunset guests had eaten, drank, danced with the hula gals, smoked cigars, enjoyed the wine bar inside so now what? Once darkness hit… tiki torches and fire pits were lit, the pool lights changed colors and attention was directed to the second story patio as “Lucky Burns” made his entrance. He traveled down the steps carrying flame torches and joined the hula dancers poolside. Guests enjoyed the performance!
